Green Hop – Harvest Hopped – Wet Hopped Beer

All about Wet Hopped Beer

‘Green hop’, ‘Harvest’ or ‘Wet hopped’ beer is made using Hops straight from the field, as opposed to Hops with have been picked and then dried before being added to a brew. Hops will spoil around 24 hours after being picked, meaning we need to pick them, pack them and courier them as quickly as we possibly can to get into the ready prepared brew.

After Hops have been dried, we calculate the Alpha Acid levels, which in turn tells you- the brewer- the bitterness levels of those Hops. We cannot calculate those levels in Wet Hops, so we can’t promise exactly what you’re brew is going to taste like- adding an exciting level of mystery to the end result!

Using Wet Hops certainly adds depth of flavour to your brew, which this article comments, ‘wet-hopped beers are more of a way to taste the plants themselves, each with their own eccentricities, than a single style of beer. It’s way more fun that way, really, a bit more like wine-tasting for beer fans.’  To read more about Wet Hopped Beer please click here
