Hops Shooting Early….

Can you spot them? Small, dark mauve shoots pushing their way up. In normal growing years we would expect hops to start shooting in March/April. However, the mild winter for one or two varieties have started to emerge. It’s too early and a hard frost can knock them back & may confuse them. We will have to keep a close eye on our hops from now on…. watch this space.
